Eight students injured after auto overturns

Mangaluru, July 3, 2015: Eight students were injured after the autorickshaw they were travelling in overturned at a turn in Prantya village near Moodbidri on Thursday morning.

According to the Moodbidri police, Soumya (14) and seven other children were in the autorickshaw driven by Praveen.

They were all going to a government school in Prantya village, when Praveen lost control over his vehicle while negotiating a turn.

The police said that Soumya’s schoolmate Suraj (15) had an injury on his head and has been moved to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Shubalata (12), who was injured near her left eye, was admitted to a private hospital in Moodbidri.

The remaining six injured students have been treated as outpatients, the police said.
