International Noise Awareness Day will be marked Apr 27, Wednesday

Mangaluru, April 26, 2016: Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Attavar, Mangalore’s,  Department of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology,  will observe International Noise Awareness Day to enhance awareness of noise and its impact on human health on April 27.  The hospital is offering free hearing tests between 9 am and 4 pm on the day.

The department is open for professional and amateur musicians and music lovers who use personal music system regularly. It is an opportunity to get their susceptibility to hearing loss assessed and learn the best practices to conserve hearing capacity. Personal music system users can get their system measured for the safety limits. Individuals, who are exposed to occupational related noise, such as drivers and industrial workers, can also get their hearing tested and learn the hearing conservation measure.

Measurement of output sound level of Personal Music System (PMS) in order to assess the safety limits of volume control setting will also be offered to the public. Public education poster display on ’Effects of Noise on Human Health’ will be held.  For details, those interested can call 9731312504.
