Jaimala, Navin Padil to get Sandesha awards

Mangalru, Dec 22, 2014: Veteran Kannada actor Jaimala and popular Tulu comedy theatre actor Navin D. Padil are among the six persons chosen for Sandesha awards this year.

These awards are instituted by Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education.

Ms. Jaimala will receive the Sandesha Madhyama award, while Mr. Padil will receive the Sandesha Kala award.

The others chosen for the awards are writer C. Veeranna from Doddaballapur (Sandesha Sahitya award), singer Henry D’Souza (Sandesha Konkani Sangeeta award), teacher Jayalakshmi Damble from Sullia (Sandesha Teachers Award) and swimmer Gopala Kharvi from Udupi (Sandesha Special Recognition award).

Director of Sandesha Foundation Victor Vijay Lobo told reporters here on Saturday that they were selected by a jury comprising writers Na. D’souza, Sara Aboobacker and actor Richard Louis.

The awards will be given on January 23.
