Karanth’s scientific approaches enrich his works

Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2015:  Speaking at a national workshop, organised by the Mangalore University’s, S V Parameshwara Bhatta Kannada Study Centre, theatre person Prasanna Heggodu explained that Novels like ’ Bettada Jeeva’ and ’Alida Mele’ of Dr K Shivaram Karnath, become special with their scientific, social and cultural precision and details

He said that the same scientific and cultural perspective and yard stick could also be observed in the novels of Rabindranath Tagore.  Karanth always subscribed to the opinion that one should be in harmony with nature and the characters in his novels like Bettada Jeeva,  Prasanna pointed out.

Delivering a keynote address, Prof C N Ramachandran said, Karanth stressed upon the social aspects in the culture. Also, he preferred an artistic approach underlining liberty of expression.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa presided over the programme.  Prof B Shivaram Shetty and others were present.
