Natyalaya to Organise Music and Dance Festival on April 11

Mangalore, April 9, 2014: Celebrating its fruitful existence for the past 34 years, Natyalaya, Urwa, a city based dance academy will be organising a festival of music and dance – Sangeetha Nruthya Kalotsava at Town Hall in the city on Friday (April 11).  The academy, led by Vidushi Kamala Bhat has grown from strength to strength imparting Bharatanatyam training to thousands of students and contributed significantly to popularising classical art form among the young and thus playing its role in building a healthy civic society.

The academy has been successful in creating a name to reckon with excellent performance of its students in the Junior, Senior and Vidwat examinations conducted by the Karnataka Government. Natyalaya has meaningfully organised music and dance festivals to mark its bi-decennial and tri-decennial celebrations in the past, inviting renowned artists from across the country. The students of Natyalaya presently settled all over the world, have also significantly contributed to popularise the dance form in their respective regions of residence.
Sangeetha Nruthya Kalotsava will be inaugurated by Karnataka Kala Thilaka and Shanthala Awardee Natyacharya Sri Ullal Mohan Kumar. Eminent personalities like Mr. Siddaramappa Talavar, Under Secretary in the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, Mr. P Jayaram Bhat, Managing Director of Karnataka Bank, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mr. B Chandrahas Rai, Assistant Director of Department of Kannada and Culture and Mr. Manohar Prasad, Chief of News Bureau of Udayavani daily will be present on the occasion.

To mark the occasion, Sahana Pradeep Bhat of Natyanjali Nruthya Kala Kendra, Hubli and Sowmya S Rao of Nruthya Sudha, Katpady will be felicitated for their achievements and contribution to Bharatanatyam education while Vidushi C. A. Chaitra Bhat will be honoured with Prathibha Puraskara.

The day will be marked with Kuchipudi dance performance, Vishnu Stuthi, Dance Ballet, folk dances, light music among a host of other performance.

This Kalostav is being organised in association with Kalkura Prathistana.
