Novelist Amish Tripathi in M’luru says ’mythology has lots to teach’

Mangaluru, May 17, 2015:   Well known Indian novelist Amish Tripathi on his maiden visit to Mangaluru Port City to announce his up coming book ’Scion of Ikshvaku,’ the first in the Ram Chandra series published by Westland Limited at Sapna Book House here on May 16, Friday.  Reiterated his pet thought that a lot can be  learned from our ancient mythology, we should hold our heads high with good will our heritage, and need not be biased against Western ideas.  Tripathi is popular as ’India’s first literary pop star,’ after his book Shiva Trilogy sold 2.2 million copies tha worl over.

On the forth coming book,  ’Scion of Ikshvaku,’ the renowned author briefed :

It is a fictional and respectful interpretation of the tale of Lord Rama and Lady Sita. The series will be a fictional interpretation, a fast-paced adventure based on many versions of the Ramayana."

The young author believes that 95 per cent of controversies are created by some people for their benefit. When one writes with respect, love, devotion and a pure heart people will accept.  Shiva’s Trilogy was also based on mythology, there was no controversy of any kind.  His books speak of the legends of a great race, the Vedic people of this age, from their creation more than 12,000 years ago, to their destruction 3,500 years ago our people could all be the lost descendants. The Shiva Trilogy and the new series are both stories on this ground continuum of the Vedic Age.

Amish, who takes around one and half years to write a novel, strongly believes that his novels are blessings of Lord Shiva. His grandfather was a Pandit in Banaras and the whole family is well read with books treasured in the home. His mythology is a hand down  from the family and he started writing.  Though an  MBA graduate Shiva’s blessings are my main stay.

Hailing from Banaras, the novelist became popular with his Shiva Trilogy- ’The Immortal of Meluha,’ ’The secret of the Nagas’ and ’The Oath of the Vayuputras,’ with gross retail sales of over Rs 60 crores, making it the fastest selling book series in Indian history.  The forth coming book ’Scion of Ikshvaku’ is set for  launch on June 22.
