Now an ’app’ to reduce organic farmer-consumer knowledge

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru:  Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil students have come out with an android phone application to reduce the lack of co-ordination between organic farmer and consumer.  The App, will allow the consumers to be connected to farmers through smart phone, where one will get notifications as and when farm fresh organic produce is available in the city. This will allow consumers buy fresh groceries that are direct from the local farms, said Aditya, who along with his friend Shrijith developed the app.

People in cities have a family doctor, family financial advisor, family lawyer. So why not family farmer; in developing the concept of the app. We have also involved Savayava Santhe which is being held regularly in various parts of Mangaluru." The application is available in play store- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farm.direct.

People can download this app and get notifications when the organic farm fresh and direct bazaar is held in Mangaluru, the location, time and so on....The consumers will also know about farmers who are producing organic produce. People can also get home made products like papads, sandiges, pickles,, masala powders and more.

Hailing from Bayar in Kasargod district, Aditya said that most of the farmers are not in touch with technology for marketing, we students are trying to bridge the gap. We are in touch with the poor farmers who produce and grow organically. My father himself is an agriculturist and is my inspiration. Noticing my father’s problem that he faces in terms of marketing, I thought of developing an App. Without a platform to sell the produce, the produce is wasted. The aim is zero farmer suicide.
