Since November 2015, the Mangaluru Police Commissioner invoked Goonda Act against 12 persons allegedly involved in acts that would disturb public order.

The State Advisory Committee comprising High Court judges upheld the order of the Police Commissioner passed against seven persons.  The committee is yet to decide on invoking Goonda Act against four persons in July.

Talking to media on July 22, Friday, City Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar said that the police select right cases for invoking the Goonda Act.
