Mangaluru, July 2, 2015: According to a media release, CPI has urged the government to initiate stern action against the health officials,  the party has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and Health minister, to this effect.  Alleging that the health officials have failed to control dengue and malaria which is spreading fast in Bantwal, Belthangadi, Sullia and other areas.

Officials have been giving false information to public that the epidemics are  in control, in reality dengue and malaria have claimed several lives and many are suffering. The health department has failed to provide proper treatment to the patients and to control the disease it is said.

CPI also alleged that the district vector-borne disease control officer Dr Arun Kumar has been in his post from seven years in the district and during his tenure, the vector-borne diseases have increased rapidly. Even though 17 deaths due to malaria have occurred in the district hospital last year, the official had claimed that there have been only two deaths, the CPI alleged and urged to transfer the official and appoint a honest official.

Also, MCC health official Dr Manjaiah Shetty has not taken sufficient care to control dengue and malaria in the city limits, the release said and added that this official should also be sacked and an expert physician should be appointed as MCC health officer.
