Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2015 : Tuluvas should strive for the betterment of the entire society and not their community alone, said Yakshagana scholar Shimanthoor Narayana Shetty. 


Tulunadu and Tulu language will flourish only when all Tulu speaking communities stay united he added.  He was speaking after inaugurating ’Kudla Tulu Minadana’ programme organised by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at Bunts Hostel in Mangaluru.

Tulu language is rich in vocabulary and expression, it has unique syllables. The language should strengthen the solidarity and erase the barrier of caste, he added.

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said that the best part of Tulunadu is that it has various facets of nature inbuilt as its culture. Tulunadu has established a bond with nature and hence, Tulu culture is diverse. Culture, heritage and language are indispensable parts of the lives of the people of Tulunadu, he said and lamented that the influence of western culture is dominating  people’s daily lives in these present times. The organisers hoped that more people would attened and participate in such occasions

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President Janaki M Brahmavar presided over, Registrar Chandrahas Rai, Conveners Mohan Koppal, Roopakala Alva, Prof Vedavathi and member Jayasheela Suvarna, were present. DK district working journalist association President Jagannath Shetty Bala  were present.
