Chindwara, Dec 22:  The plane used by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had to be pushed off a runway in Madhya Pradesh today by a group of policemen

The leader landed in Chindwara at 12 pm for a public function; just minutes later, Kamal Nath, who has won this constituency nine times, arrived in another private plane.

To ensure safe landing of Kamal Nath’s plane, the Chief Minister’s aircraft was parked on the helipad just near the air strip. And just a few minutes before Mr Chouhan’s plane was to take off, policemen were seen pushing his aircraft from the helipad to the runway.

As per the schedule, Nath’s plane was supposed to land earlier but he got late and in the meantime, Chauhan’s flight landed at the airstrip around 12.30 PM. After half-an-hour, Nath’s plane also arrived and to make way for it to land, policemen and other staff pushed it for about 15-20 feet towards the helipad which is being used as a temporary parking bay in case two planes arrive at the airstrip," Inspector General (IG) of  Jabalpur Range, D Sriniwas Rao told Press Trust of India.

Officials said there is no towing vehicle at the local airport, so policemen were asked to help move the Chief Minister’s plane away.

"It is a normal practice to push a plane for taking it to a parking bay and pilot requested it to do so to save fuel," Mr Rao said.
