Nov 10, 2014:  This is the exhilarating moment a daredevil cyclist on a rocket-powered bicycle smashed the world speed record by hitting 207mph in under five seconds.

Francois Gissy used a stripped-down adapted bike, with three rocket engines at the motor racing circuit in Le Castallet, France, to achieve the amazing feat.

The bike, designed by his friend Arnold Neracher, with the Swiss Gissy on board, registered 207mph, just 4.8 seconds after a standing start.

Footage posted to YouTube from the Paul Ricard racetrack shows the record-breaking run from a rear-mounted camera as the bike explodes into life.

It shoots off, covering quarter of a mile in less than seven seconds.

On a previous run, Gissy’s super-bike leaves a Ferrari sports car trailing in its wake as it accelerates at frightening velocity.

And having those rockets attached sure cuts down on the pedalling.
