Abudhabi : World Kannada Cultural Convention draws to a spectacular close

Abudhabi, Dec 18,2012: The ninth two-day World Kannada Cultural Convention 2012 (Vishwa Kannada Sanskriti Sammelan) organised at the Sheikh Zayed Auditorium  of Indian High School, drew to a spectacular close on December  16. The event was organized by the Karnataka Sangha, Abudhabi and Hridayavahini, Kannada monthly,

 

 

 

Five eminent achievers were conferred the Vishwamanya awards at the valedictory ceremony. The recipients of the Award were  Raju Chandrashekar, Pandit Naveen Chandra Sanil, Sudhir Shetty, COO, UAE Exchange Abu Dhabi (banking and social service), Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com (media) and Siraj Ahmed from Abu Dhabi.

NRI entrepreneur and Karnataka Sangha patron BR Shetty presided over the valedictory function. The Conference Chairman was Professor Mallepuram G Venkatesh. Among others present on the occasion were  Manjunath Sagar of  Hridayavahini, Karnataka Sangha Abudhabi President Sarvottam Shetty and Satish Poojari, President of  Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah.

A variety of cultural programmes  including ’Vishwa Vinootana’ group dance by Gana Nruthya Koustubha, Abu Dhabi , Yakshagana "Kamsa Vadhe" by members of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and a humorous   poetic session entertained the gathering.

All the artistes who presented the cultural programmes were felicitated by the President of Karnataka Sangha, Abudhabi.
