Champaign, 07 October 2010: Indian Students Association of University of Illinois, Champaign held their annual elections for the board. Atina D’Souza, senior in the College of Business, studying Marketing and Management, concentrating in International Business has been elected as the President of the association for the academic year 2010-2011. Currently Atina is studying International Business for one semester at the University of Vienna, Austria.
Following are the team members for ISA Board: Krupa Patel - Internal Vice President; Uma Patel – External Vice President; Gauarav Verma - Secretary; Chiraag Deora - Treasurer; Reema Amin & Karan Talati - Production; Priyanka Doshi & Dinakar Vadlamani - Social; Keya Patel & Nirbhay Dhapodkar - Membership; Shawn Thomas & Hemal Patel - Cultural Awareness; Neil Mithipati & Sai Gudimella - Creative Design; Sapna Patel & Ruthvik Basavaraj - Philanthropy; Monisha Mani & Arpan Shah - Publicity.
The Indian Student Association at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign aims to increase South Asian cultural awareness, promote service and serve as a social tie for the campus community. ISA is not just for Indian or Indian-American students; it is open to all students who are interested in South Asian culture, they welcome all to join ISA in their cultural shows, philanthropy initiatives, and various social events.
ISA is affiliated with the following University groups: Performing Arts/Athletic Organizations - Chai-Town Acappella, Cricket Club of Illinois, Illini Chandani, Illini Raas Team, Indian Dance Club, Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth. Ethnic Organizations - Arab Student Association, Asian American Association, Asian Pacific American Coalition, Bangladeshi Students Association, Bengali Student Association, Boxes and Walls, Indonesian Students Club, Pakistani Students Association, Punjabi Heritage Organization (PHO), Together Encouraging the Appreciation of Multiculturalism (TEAM). Religious Organizations - Hindu Students’ Council, Indian Christian Fellowship, Jain Students Association, Muslim Students Association and Sikh Student Association.
