Bahrain, 24 May 2012: Bahrain Kannada Sangha is one of the most active expatriate clubs in Bahrain over the past 35 years, which has been conducting various entertainment and cultural programmes in the island nation.
The recent celebration of ’Vasantotsava’ made the day a memorable one for all the Kannadigas residing in the Island. Also the newly elected committee for 2012-13 was installed during the celebration held in the Cultural hall situated near the Marina Club.
Bhimeshwara Joshi, managing trustee of Shri Annapoorneshwari temple, Horanadu, had been specially invited from India as chief guest. He appreciated the work done by Kannada Sangha keeping the tradition and culture of Karnataka alive in this faraway place, Bahrain. He saluted all those people for their sacrifice for the betterment their culture and passing it on to their children.
The main attraction was the showcasing of the dance format ’Kuchipudi’ and ’Kathak’ by the world-renowned dancers Surya N Rao and Pratham Prasad, who were specially flown in from Bangalore for this programme.
The audiences were captivated by their dance for one hour, as it was an an amazing experience. Mimicry artiste Ramesh Babu, invited as a guest from Bangalore, also entertained the audience with jokes and mimicry.
Many sangha members presented impressive dance items during this programme. Many lucky persons in the audience won spot prizes.
General secretary Rajesh Shetty welcomed the guests, Kamalaksha Amin and Naveen Shetty compered the programme in a professional manner.
President Rajkumar, in his speech, thanked all the sponsors of this event and all those who contributed to the success of this great show and invited all members to take the Sangha to a new height in the coming season.
