Doha, 07 March 2010: The Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar, which is affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Indian Embassy, Qatar and is one of the oldest expatriate socio-cultural clubs in Qatar, in its Endeavour to serve the community, since its inception in 1992, has been organising various social, cultural, literary and educational activities in which members and non members alike participate in large numbers.
For the thousands who have made their homes away from home in Qatar, MCC strives to keep them in touch with their culture and help in getting rid of home sickness and achieve better health through entertainment. In this regard, MCC has been inviting famed Konkani artistes from Mangalore and other parts of India and also from other Gulf countries to perform in Doha and entertain their fans, which has been successfully achieved for the past 18 years.
And now, in its quest to give the best to the community, MCC is proud to present ’KONKAN DABAZO - 2010’ - a Show with a difference on Friday, 9th April 2010 at 5.00 p.m. at the Al Ghazal Club, Doha. It will be feast of Mangalorean music, scintillating dances, rib tickling comedy, a complete package of high class entertainment 17 well renowned artistes from Mangalore, Kuwait and Dubai.
Adolf Jayathilak (Qatar/Mangalore) the versatile singer of ’Ye Mana’ fame, whose album ’Ye Mana’ is hailed as a trend setter in Konkani music. The album is something different, something nice, for his music has something for everyone.
Konkani’s Singing Star, who has built a solid nest in the hearts of Konkani music lovers over the years, Konkani’s ’Dream Boy’ Rony D’Cunha (Kuwait) - a precious gem and a down to earth personality will enthrall his fans in Qatar, yet again, with his Golden Voice.
The ’Rani Kogul’ of the recently held ’Soad-2’, the young Konkani Star on the horizon, Lavita Lobo (Mangalore) is all set to make her international debut in Doha and regale the audience with her melodious voice. Young Reshma Cutinho (Dubai), with her beautiful voice will captivate your hearts with some equally beautiful numbers.
The young and dynamic troupe of musicians from Mangalore will be led on the Lead Guitar by Roshan D’Souza, a musician, composer and performer par excellence, who has scored music for and performed in hundreds of musical shows and Konkani albums. The troupe will also feature Richard Monteiro, who was part of the ’Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ music troupe on the keyboard, Ashith Pinto from the Sandesha Music School on the base guitar, and Melwyn Fernandes on drums.
The pair of ’King of Konkani Comedy’ Jerry Rasquinha and Joseph Pinto, with their unique skills in comedy are all set to fill the air around with side splitting laughter.
For the first time in Qatar, the Konkani music and dance lovers will witness scintillating dances by the troupe born in 1989 under the shades of coconut groves of the southern Indian coast, from where its name origins, the troupe which has become a brand in itself, the ’Ocean Kids’ of Dubai. The troupe comprising Vinod Sequeira, the choreographer, Farah Pinto, Sarah Pinto, Shilpa, Anup and Rithesh will perform to both live and recorded music in different types of dance styles like folk, semi-folk, Goan and Salsa.
One or the Star attractions of the evening will be ’Mr. World’ Raymond D’Souza.
The show will be compered by the young and energetic Uttam Menezes of Dubai, the anchor who is one among the best contemporary comperes of the Konkani world today. Uttam, with his exceptional and captivating style of compering, with a fluent flow of Konkani fortified with his rich vocabulary, has already won the hearts of the Konkani community in the UAE.
All in all "KONKAN DABAZO -2010" will surely be a big bundle of sheer, wholesome entertainment of the highest quality.
