Doha: Sixth M Pallonji cricket tournament begins on flying note

Doha, Jan 06, 2020:   Chidananda Naik, General Manager of M Pallonji inaugurated the sixth M Pallonji Cricket Tournament 2020 in the presence of Qatar Veterans Cricket officials, Syed Adil, Cricket coordinator, Houston Cricket Association, all players and match officials.

M Pallonji, the sponsor team defeated Asian Cricket Club by eight wickets in the inaugural match at the Losail Cricket Complex.

After winning the toss, M Pallonji captain, Neeraj put Asian Cricket Club to bat. Asian Cricket Club started cautiously and scored 47 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of six Power play overs. M Pallonji bowlers never allowed Asian Cricket Club batsmen to score freely and took wickets at regular intervals.

Asian Cricket Club finally scored 129 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 17.5 overs. Opener Daniyal was the top scorer with 44 runs including two sixers and two boundaries. Sajid scored a quickfire 33 runs with three sixers and a boundary while Feroz chipped in with 23 runs with three boundaries.

For M Pallonji, Rajesh took three wickets giving only two runs, while Siddique and Alban took two wickets each and Praveen took one wicket.

In reply, M Pallonji lost their opener Razique for 10 runs but Sandeesh was not out on 65 runs with seven sixers and two boundaries. Rajesh blazed away and was out for 44 runs in 18 balls with five sixers and two fours. M Pallonji easily won the match in 9.3 overs losing just two wickets.

For Asian Cricket Club Sajid and Aftab took one wicket each.

For his all-round performance, Rajesh of M Pallonji was adjudged the Man of the Match.

In the other match, MIC defeated Mumbai XII by three Wickets.

Brief scores: Mumbai XII were all out in 18.2 overs. Nadeem 38 runs not out with three sixers and two boundaries, Baba (Abdul Gafoor) 21 runs. Zakaria and Khalid took three wickets each while Atiq bagged two wickets and Rateesh, Sami and Nasir who took a wicket each lost to MIC 106 runs for eight wicekts in 17 overs (Asif 23 runs with two sixers and one four, Sami 17 runs. Lukman, Shafique and Arshad took two wickets each).

In one more match, Mitra Mandal defeated Serandib B by 24 runs

Mitra Mandal 170 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs (Bhushan of Mitra Mandal 38 runs in 14 balls with three sixers and three fours, Vinod 34 runs off 17 deliveries with two sixers and four boundaries, Sujeet 26 runs and Vijay 25 runs. Manager took three wickets, Bandula two wickets, while Milan and Dasantha took one wicket each. Serandib B 146 runs for eight wickets. Bandulla 24 runs with three sixers and two fours, Thiwanka 19 runs and Chamara 13 runs. Sujit took four wickets, Amit two wickets and Dilip, Vijay, Bhushan and Parvez took one wicket each.
