Dubai, September 27: The members of Mukamar parish, Shirva Varado, who work in Dubai, launched a brand new association called “Little Flower of Mukamar” (Mukamarchim Lhan Phulam) on September 24. The new association was inaugurated by Francis Fernandes Cascia, the wide acclaimed dramatist of the Mangalore Catholic community, in a traditional manner. The occasion was graced by the presence of prominent people such as NRI entrepreneur Ronald Colaco, Felix Lobo, James Mendonca, and others. A large number of guests and representatives of other associations were present for the event.
The programme commenced at 12 noon with a prayer to St. Theresa, the patron saint of Mukamar parish. Dony Correa compered the programme. The chief guests and all the guests of honor were invited to the dais and felicitated with flowers. The chief guests urged for unity among the parishioners and called upon them to help needy parishioners back home.
Entrepreneurs Ronald Colaco and Felix Lobo congratulated the parishioners for launching a brand new association and promised their support. Mr. Colaco even promised to donate Rs. 1 lakh to for the fencing of the parish cemetery. Mr. James Mendonca donated Dhs. 2,500 for a charitable cause.
Reshma Lobo read out the message of Rev. Fr. Victor D’Souza, the parish priest of Mukamar, to the parishioners. Mr. CJS Thokode, the Konkani writer, received a special prize for choosing the name of the association. His daughter Vinita Sequeira received the prize. A cultural programme by the children and a raffle draw formed part of the event.
A splendid buffet and a baila show marked the end of the programme.
