Dubai, March 25, 2013 : The Dhwani Pratishtana of UAE organised a colourful programme named ‘Dhwani Rangasiri-2013’ recently to commemorate its 28th annual celebrations. Dhwani Pratishtana is known for its distinct programmes aimed at promoting Kannada language and culture and the latest event was well appreciated by hundreds of Kannadigas who witnessed it with great joy.
On this occasion, Dr Pandithacharya Shivacharya Swamiji was conferred with the prestigious Sri Ranga Ranga Award given by the Pratishtana. The award is given every year to an outstanding achiever in the field of theatre and arts.
Speaking after receiving the award, the seer said an artiste will get his due recognition and honour in the society when he excels after ceaseless efforts. He also urged Kannadigas to extend their full-co-operation to an organization like Dhwani Pratishtana.
Basavaraju, Chief Secretary of the Department of Kannada, Culture and Information of Karnataka Government, was the chief guest.
Prakash Payyar, President of Dhwani Pratishtana spoke on the aims and objectives of the organization.
A book ‘Pom Pom Railu’ by Gopinath was released by the seer on the occasion. A number of dignitaries including Satish Venkatramana, entrepreneur, Sarvottam Shetty, President of Karnataka Sangha, Abudhabi, James Mendonca, Director of Reliable Group of concerns, Shekhar Shetty, Director of Arab Udupi Hotels, Praveen Shetty, Promoter of Fortune Group of Hotels, Madhusudan, Secretary of Dhwani Pratishtana, Sridhar, Treasurer and others were present.
A play ‘Bali’ authored by Girish Karnad and directed by Prakash Payyar enthralled the gathering.
