Canada, June 14, 2013 : Fr Henry Alva OFM Cap who hails from Pamboor Parish of Udupi Diocese has been elected Vicar Provincial for Capuchin Province of Central Canada.
Son of Camil and late Juan Alva from Pamboor, Fr Henry is an alumnus of St Aloysius College, Mangalore. After ordainment in 1987, he served as a missionary in Papua New Guinea for 12 years and as Rector of Deena Seva Ashram, Institute of Philosophy in Bangalore for six years.
A resident of Canada, he celebrated his Sacerdotal Silver Jubilee recently. A Counselor by profession he is also a family and marriage therapist and has helped many families. He also teaches counseling at Toronto Institute of Pastoral Counseling Education.
He is the first priest to preach Lenten Retreat in Konkani during the lent season organised by Mangalorean Association of Canada three years ago.
