Gammath Kalavider to stage Tulu play ‘Porlu Thuper’ on Jan 17

Dubai, Jan 6, 2013 :  Gammath Kalavider, UAE, an amatueur Tulu theatrical troupe in the Gulf, is all set to stage  a Tulu comedy and social play named ‘Porlu Thuper’ at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium in Indian High School, Dubai on January 17 at 6 pm. The  play is being staged to commemorate the third anniversary of the troupe.

Porlu Thuper is authored by Nellu Permannur of Bale Thelipaale fame, while the direction is by Vishwanath Shetty.


 Gammath Kalavider had earlier in the year 2012 and 2013 had staged the  popular plays ‘Ee Porludaye..?” by Dinesh Attavar and  ‘Porlu Toovade’ by JA Boloor respectively. A sum of Rs 5 lakh out of the total funds raised through the play in 2012 was   donated to Spoorthi Dhama, a home for the orphaned kids and women at Koteshwara.


This year the organisation has plans to stage the show in aid of Matha Lakshani Shanthidham, an old age home in Bantwal taluk.
