Indian expat wins $1 million at Dubai Duty Free raffle

Dubai, Feb 04, 2021:     An Indian expat became a millionaire, while a compatriot will drive away a luxury vehicle, when their winning tickets were drawn in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions.

 

Suraj Aneed, a 35-year-old based in Abu Dhabi, became the 350th winner of the raffle ticket.

A resident of Abu Dhabi for five years now, Aneed was watching the live draw on Dubai Duty Free’s Facebook page.

The father of one said: “I cannot believe that I won with my fourth only ticket to the Dubai Duty Free promotion. True enough, it’s never too late to start and one should never lose hope," he said.

When asked on his initial plans with his win, he said, “I will start a business in India and give some to charities.”

Aneed, who hails from Kerala, is the 175th Indian national to have won $1 million since the start of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999.

Indian nationals make up the highest number of Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire ticket buyers.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Finest Surprise draw was conducted for a motorbike.

Rinshad Ali, a 32-year-old Indian national based in Muscat, Oman, won an Indian Vintage Darkhorse (Thunder Black Smoke) motorbike.
