Abu Dhabi, 24 December 2010: The organising committee of Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Ladies Throwball Tournament has announced its annual tournament to be played on 14th January, 2011 (Friday) from 8 am to 6 pm at Abu Dhabi Indian School Ground - Abu Dhabi.

 

The tournament will be inaugurated at 08.30 am by HE Mr.M K Lokesh, Indian Ambassador to UAE and presided over by Dr.B.R.Shetty and Dr.(Mrs) Chandrakumari BR Shetty. The prizes will be distributed to the winners at around 6 pm.
 

The president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Mr Sarvotham Shetty in a press release said that this time the tournament is not only meant for women but also for men and children (below 18 years).

There will be 10 teams (7 from UAE, two from Kuwait & 1 team from Bangalore) in women’s category, 6 teams from across the UAE in Men’s category and 3 (from Abu Dhabi, Dubai & Bangalore (Asian Throwball Federation) ) teams in Children’s category vying for the top honors.

According to the press release there are three Memorial Trophies:

 
(1) Open to all KSSM Ladies Throwball Tournament (Players 9 + 3)
(2) Open to all KSSM Girls (under 18 years) Throwball Tournament (Players 7 + 2)
(3) Open to all KSSM Gents Throwball Tournament (Players 7 + 2) -  Please note only UAE teams are allowed.

Lunch will be served to the participating teams and spectators.

Fixtures will be drawn on the same day of the event. All rights reserved and the Organisers decisions in all matters are final.

The Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Throwball Tournament started in 1989 and it is being conducted  for the last two decades.  This tournament is recognised as the best Throwball tournament conducted anywhere in the region with participation from the GCC countries and India for the last many years.  Year after year record number of teams & spectators are witnessing this prestigious tournament.
