Mangalore, June 12: As a part of GULF VOICE OF MANGALORE reality Konkani Singing Competition ‘Youth Recreation Centre” (Rising Stars), Kuwait conducted preliminary rounds of  ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 2010’ on Friday June 11, at The Indian Community Girls School Auditorium – Salmiya.

In a formal function stared at 10 am, organizers gave a brief introduction of Gulf Mangalorean voice and its founder organizers, Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues, by Rita Rodrigues, following which a silent prayer was organized to remember a great Konkani musician Late Wilfy Rebimbus  and also for Mangalore Air crash Victims.  


The competition, which is open to all Konkani-speaking singers of Mangalorean origin, was held separately for Male and female candidates.


Following are the contestants selected for semifinals.
   
Female: Renuka Joyce Cutinha, Nirmala Noel Machado, Gladys Rose Lorenha, Lolita Merlyn Fronteiro, Linette Carol D’Souza, Wanishia Laila D’Souza.

Male: Warren James D’Souza, Orson Albert D’Souza, Sanjay Martis, Ashley N.A. D’Silva, Stany Ashok Barboza, Melwin Anson D’Souza.
