Manchester  December 29, 2010: KCA UK held the Christmas celebration, which is popularly known as ’Christmas Boom’ for the fourth successive year on December 26, 2010. Families belonging to different faith and communities participated in this fun filled Christmas Boom extravaganza. The event was held at St. Margaret’s Hall Burnage Manchester.

Police organize flag marches to ensure pre-election law and order    Udupi, Dec 28: A police contingent comprising police personnel from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala organized flag marches in Katpady, Udyavar, Kaup, Hejamady, and Uchchila on Dec 27, Monday in order to ensure people that law and order will be maintained before, during, and after the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections. The police also organized flag marches in Kallianpur, Hoode, Nejar, Kemmannu, and Kodibengre areas within Malpe Police Station.   The police personnel who have been given election duty come from the Rapid Action Force, Kerala police, Tamil Nadu police, local police station, and 2 ECU unit.   The flag marches were guided by B. Cheluvaraju, the Kaup circle inspector; Mohan Kottary; and Mahadeva Shetty, the station house officer of Padubidri. The Malpe flag march was guided by S. V. Girish, the circle inspector; Sampat Kumar, the Udupi police inspector; and Santhosh Shetty, the Malpe station house officer.


The event was designed for both kids and adults.  At 5.00 P.M. the event kicked off with face painting for kids followed by magic show by ’Baaz Entertainers’,  kids took maximum advantage of this two hours show by their active participation. At 7.00PM the Master of Ceremony Mr. Santhosh Sequiera gave an effective start to this Family Event by meaningful introduction and each family breaking the ’Christmas Cracker’


Excitements were high when Character Panda brought KCA UK President Mr. Stany Rodrigues to the stage to welcome the guests. In his welcome speech he urged everyone to enjoy the event as one family. This was followed by Carol singing by kids and surprise entry of Santa at the end of Carol singing. Santa wished everyone a happy feast and gave away prizes to all the kids.  Most of the kids were looking very pretty with colors on their faces and dressed with their favorite character, which gave an extra flavor to the event. At the end of this activity Santa opened the bar by sipping his favorite champagne.


After a short break, the event started with a fun filled family game by Mr. Santhosh Pinto. Mr.  & Mrs. Raj Girija and family was the winner and Mrs. Renny Buthello gave the prize to the winner.  This was followed by Christmas Play by KCA UK members in which KCA UK members danced to a typical Mangalorean local music (Band). During this dance session KCA UK ensured that their financial supporters were brought to stage and danced together and showed their gratitude. Mr. Praveen Solomn, Mrs. Marina Monis, Mrs. Charlotte Barboza, Mrs. Monica D’Almeida, Mrs. Lilly Stalin, Mr. Manoj Udeshi, Mrs. Arshiya Periera ,Mrs. Reena Rodrigues , Mr Cyril Pinto, Mrs Renny Buthello, Mr Kennet D’sa, Mrs Laveena Ivy  financially supported this event. Also there were characters dressed like Angels, Jokers, and the centre of attraction was ’character Sheila’ and her partner. Delicious dinner was served at 8.30 P.M.
 

In the vote of thanks, KCA UK Secretary Mr. Vinod Barboza offered his sincere thanks to the sponsors and the people who worked hard to make the event a grand success, which includes, Character dressing - Angels - Ms. Melisha and Ms.Sarah Barboza. Joker - Mr. Satny Rodrigues, Shiela - Mr.Ronald Lobo. Shiela’s partner- Mr. James Ravi Pinto. Santa Clause - Mr.Alwyn Bhutello. Sound System - Mr.Santhosh Pinto. Photography - Mr. Cyril Pinto and Mrs. Lainet Pinto, Riona Buthello. Food Management - Mr. Martin Saldanha, Mr. Solomn and  Mr. & Mrs. Pradeep Ajimol


In the late hour of the event, the whole
crowd was engaged in the nonstop dance, which was well supported by some thrilling music by DJ Mr. Ronald Lobo. Just before closing the event prize draw was carried out, ’The family of the day’ prize went to Mrs. Evet Pinto and Family from Liverpool, Mr. & Mrs. Praveen Soanes - Manchester honored the winner. Christmas Hamper was won by Mr. Praveen Solomn Manchester, Mr. Ronald Lobo and Mrs. Diana Lobo were asked to honor the winners.


The whole event was planned and executed using more innovative sequences compared to the traditional stage event to enhance the entertainment level and bring awareness of community cohesion. This has been well structured and brilliantly compeered by Santhosh Sequiera from Warrington.
