Mangalore boy dreams of winning Olympics goldDubai, December 2: Ehsan Hassan Ibrahim, who was born in Mangalore, recently won the super champion award in the UAE. A student of Class XII at Dubai Indian High School, he is aiming to become an Olympic star. Ehsan broke all records at the 100m and 200m meet at the UAE Our Own Inter School Athletics Meet, which was held at the Dubai Police Stadium. In addition to the super champion award, he also bagged the long jump gold medal.


Ehsan is a born athlete, who began winning medals right from Class IV. His enthusiastic father Ibrahim Ummer Beary saw to it that his talented son received all the coaching he required. Mr. Ibrahim has expressed his gratefulness to Ehsans coaches Tapan Das of Indian High School, Khamis, Esmail, and Godwin of Al Wasl Club.


Mr. Ibrahim, who knew about the practice schedule of P. T. Usha, guided his son to do a beach practice, which helped him complete 100m in 11.22 and 200m in 23.10 in the super senior U 19 category when he was only 17. Ehsan’s idols are Mike Powel, Bolt, and Ben Johnson. Although he excels in karate, cricket, and swimming, Ehsan’s favorite is long jump. So far he hasn’t been able to participate much in sports events outside the UAE, but has bagged several prizes at the Open All Karnataka State Athletic Championship, which was held in Bangalore, and bagged the best athlete award.


The Indian High School Chairman/Vice Chairman honored Ehsan for his excellent performance at the CBSE National Athletic Meet, which was held in Jaipur in 2009. He was also awarded the Prathibha Puraskar Award at Abu Dhabi during the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations in 2009 and 2010.


Ehsan dreams of becoming an Olympic champion and winning 100m and 200m gold medals.
