SMKC organizes requiem mass for plane crash victims

Mangalore, June 2:  (SMKC), based in Dubai, organized an English requiem mass on June 1, Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in honor of the 158 victims of the Mangalore plane crash. A large number of people attended the mass to pray for the souls of the victims. 

 

 

 

Fr. Tomasito Vernacion, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Church Dubai, and Fr. Freddy D’Souza, the spiritual director and assistant priest of the Konkan Community concelebrated the mass. The names of the 158 plane crash victims were displayed at the center of the altar and a wreath was placed beneath the names in their honor. 

Jennifer Mascarenhas, the main coordinator of St. Mary’s Konkan Community, delivered the eulogy at the end of the service. Pictures were displayed on the screen in accompaniment to her speech. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to the family members, friends, and relatives of the plane crash victims and prayed that God might give them the strength to move on with life in the absence of their loved ones.
