Doha, Oct 18, 2013:Tulukoota Qatar, affiliated to ICC under the aegis of Embassy of India Doha Qatar, as part of its endeavor to provide a platform for fellow Tuluvas and Kannadigas to exhibit their talent in the field of General Knowledge and also encourage reading habits,had sucessfully organised their 2nd "QUIZ COMPETITION" on Friday, 11th October 2013 at AL JAZEERA ACADEMY,at Abu Hamour.

 

 

A "SPELLING BEE" contest for Children below the age of 12 was an added attraction of this years event.Spelling Bee contest was hosted by young and dashing Ms.Raksha Rajshekar.In spelling bee competitions six finalists were selected after the preliminary rounds.


Quiz competition had about 22 teams of two members each.Preliminary rounds had 40 questions, the last ten being the tie breaker questions in the event of a tie if any team scores equal marks out of first 40 questions.First six teams were qualified for  finals.Final round of quiz had many interesting rounds such as Karantaka, Audio, Video, Buzzzer, Sports, Cinema and Qatar rounds.


In Quiz Comepetition,top six teams were qualified  for the final rounds after a written preliminary round consisting of 40+10  questions, the last ten being the tie breaker questions in the event of a tie if any team scores equal marks out of first 40 questions.


Dynamic Duo Aditya and Divakar Karkera , Mumbai Indians including of Lata and Kavya Bangera,Mangalorean Quiz Team had Johnson Quadros & Raj Maxim Rodrigues and Putturda Mutthu were Karthik and Kirthan, Gadinada Garnals consisting Raghavendra and Lakshmi and KSQ Wizards represented by Deepak Shetty and Arun Kumar were qualified to the final rounds.Raj Shekhar Bappal was the quiz master.

KSQ Wizards team of Arun Kumar and Deepak Shetty,also the proud winners of 2012, once again proved themselves by winning for the consecutive 2nd time.Gadinada Garnals represented by Raghavendra and Lakshmi were the runner ups.

In the Spelling Bee competition Smriti Bhat, Marylyn Rego, Krish ,Vaidehi Poojary, Sathvik Bhat, and Sanvi Shetty qualified for the final 6 after clearing the prelims.Vaidehi Poojary was the winner of 1st Spelling Bee contest organized by TKQ.Sathvik Bhat & Sanvi Shetty were the first and second runners ups respectively.

The Quiz and Spelling Bee competition was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by Sri Shankaralingam, Deputy CEO of Ahli Bank, Seetharam Shetty,President of Tulu Koota Qatar and executive committee members of the Tulu Koota.

After the quiz program there were interesting spot prize questions to the audience. Stage programme was followed after the competiotions. Mr.K.M. Varghese Head of ICC Advisory Council was the Chief Guest.Mr .Shankar Mahalingam  Dy CEO  Ahli Bank and Mr. M. Ravi Shetty , Managing Director, Advanced Technical Services, Doha Qatar were Guests of Honours.

Mr. Seetharam Shetty welcomed the large gathering and Ms.Supriya Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Padmashree  was the MC during the event. Mr. Uday Shetty  conducted spot prize questions for the audience.
