UAE Bunts to organize family get-together on May 6

Mangalore, March 16: UAE Bunts President Sarvottam Shetty has announced in an official press release that the 37th UAE Bunts Family Get-together will be held at Crowne Plaza Dubai on May 6, Friday under the sponsorship of Dr. B. R. Shetty, Padmashree Award winner and CEO and MD NMC Group of Companies.

This year’s event will be conducted on the G.C.C level and will be attended by the presidents of all Bunts associations in Gulf countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman. The event will also include two special competitions such as folk dance competition for UAE Bunts and Bunts Fashion Show.

The UAE Bunts will also honor student achievers especially those who have achieved 90 percent results in their SSLC and PUC results in 2010. Besides, the event will include a wide range of entertainment programmes, raffle draws, and others.

Mr. Sarvotham Shetty said, that the speciality of this year’s anniversary is that it would be conducted on G.C.C. level and attended by Presidents of all Bunts associations of the Gulf Countries namely Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.  Also for the first time the anniversary will have two special competitions titled:  Folk Dance Competition for UAE Bunts and Bunts fashion show.  An unique opportunity for all bunts to take participate in these two competitions.

“U.A.E. Bunts”  was started in 1979 with a handful of bunts with a view to to reach out all bunts in U.A.E and extend their helping hand to the under-privileged brethren here in U.A.E and back in Mangalore as well.  There were many job seekers coming to U.A.E leaving their loved one back home seeking a good job, good opportunity to stand on their own feet and support their parents and family but had no indication which direction they should look for.  The U.A.E. Bunts came to their rescue and made them feel home and offered help and contacts in getting better jobs and live a life of happiness.  Gradually association grew in strength from a few numbers to hundreds and carved itself a name in U.A.E.

The association started organizing family get-together every year and even twice a year just to share their happines,and brought all bunts staying here in U.A.E under one umbrella wherein they met, shared their happiness, family backgrounds and set upon many worthy family oriented charity deeds.  They engaged themselves in many noble deeds such as jobs and provided funds for the marriages for the under-privileged, education, medicine for the sick and treatment at hospitals and so on.   U.A.E Bunts is affiliated to Bunts Matr Sangha of Mangaore.  By holding every  year family get-together, picnic and sports, UAE Bunts have preserved their traditional values and have been instrumental in teaching their children these values by organizing fancy dress, competitions  and talent shows.  The children are inspired to walk in feet of their parents by taking part in these competitions to learn their traditions, customs involving, Yakshagana, Kambala, nema, puja, festivals, folk dance, harvesting, so on.

Every year, the U.A.E Bunts used to organize via their anniversaries only entertainment program but this year they have ventured into an idea of organizing two unique competitions such as Folk Dance competition and Bunts Fashion show which Sarvotham Shetty feels would be a resounding success and he said all arrangemnts have been made for these competitions.  However, a few rules have been set to conduct these competitions in a very smooth and orderly manner.

The following rules shall apply for the Folk Dance Competition:

Ø  For the age group of 10 years and above.
Ø  The Participants strictly has to participate only in one dance
Ø  Only Kannada and Tulu songs are acceptable
Ø  Minimum six people should participate and should have men and women as well
Ø  Time limit is only 5 minutes and more than that shall be disqualified.

Rules for the Bunts Fashion Show:

Ø  For the couples only and for the age group of 40 years and above
Ø  Traditional Dress only.

During the program UAE Bunts feels to be privileged to honour those students who have excelled academically and would like to recognize students of  10TH AND 12th standard who have achieved 90% plus results for the year 2010. (Details to be emailed to sarvo@eim.ae).

Besides these competitions, there shall be raffle draws, variety of entertainment programs etc.   Sarvotham Shetty also anticipates attendance from members of all gulf countries and active participation in the events along with their respective presidents.
