Dubai, Nov 28, 2019: The motorist who was killed in an accident near the World Trade Centre Roundabout on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as a renowned Indian doctor.
Dr John Marshall Skinner, 60-year-old specialist internist and one of the partners at the PrimaCare Clinics, Avivo group - a multi-speciality medical centre formerly known as Al Musalla Medical Centre - was killed after his Nissan Patrol car flipped over and caught fire, according to his close colleagues.
Dr Skinner was on his way to the clinic from his house in Jumeirah Village Circle when the tragic accident took place approximately at 12.45pm, according to Dubai Police reports.
Dr Skinner, originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has been practising in the UAE for over 20 years. "Dr Skinner was one of the best doctors in the UAE. He has been working with PrimaCare for 16 years. He was an extremely dedicated doctor who specialised in diabetes," said Dr Sasikumar Kallivalappil, a specialist neurologist at PrimaCare.
"His death has left the medical community and his patients in a state of deep shock. We have still not recovered from it. He was extremely well-loved among his patients. Many of his patients have been visiting him for several years. His patients would wait hours to meet with him," said former marketing manager of PrimaCare Clinics Shaukkath Marangattu.
Dr Skinner is survived by his wife, Dr Sisy Marshall, and two kids who are both studying medicine in Bahrain. Dr Skinner comes from a family of healthcare professionals. "His parents, sisters and brother are all very well-known doctors in their respective fields," said Shaukkath.
"When Dr Skinner did not return home from work last night (Tuesday), his wife informed the clinic. Officials from the clinic went to Al Rafaa Police Station in search of him on Wednesday morning", he said.
When police officials informed the family that an accident had taken place and the body was moved to Qusais mortuary, at 10am on Wednesday, Dr Skinner’s wife and colleagues identified his body at the morgue. The family and close colleagues are presently working on completing formalities ahead of his funeral, which is expected to be held at the Jebel Ali Cemetery.
