Ajman, Apr 03, 2018 : Gulf Medical University – Ajman, the leading private medical university in the Middle East region has entered into strategic partnership with University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (UA-MEZCOPH), USA, with the aim of significantly developing public health education in the Middle East region.
A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed at Gulf Medical University (GMU) on 2nd April 2018. The signatories of the MoU were Prof. Hossam Hamdy – Chancellor of GMU and Prof. Iman. A. Hakim – Dean of Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona.
Commenting on the partnership with UA-MEZCOPH, Prof. Hossam Hamdy said that GMU was proud to tie up with one of the leading universities in the United States. “We hope this is just the beginning of a wider and broader collaboration. We are a specialized medical University, which extends the potential of collaboration to different disciplines. The professional ties between these two universities will continue for many years to come,” he said.
Prof. Iman. A. Hakim said, “We are really excited about this new collaboration. I hope this will be the first step towards greater cooperation which will benefit both the institutions as well as our respective countries.”
The collaboration extends to a range of activities including teaching opportunities, joint/dual programs, training and faculty development, student/faculty exchanges as well as joint conferences and workshops. The partnership also aims to strengthen the regional network of public health education, practice and research.
