Manama, 29 September 2010: On 24th Sept’2010 Kannada Sangha Bahrain organized a Unique Yakhshaghana play called “ Devi Mahatme – Shambhavi Vijaya, Part I” at the Indian Club auditorium. This was the yearly program celebrating the Yakshaghana culture in the Sangha calendar.
The auditorium filled with yanshaghana enthusiasts consists of Sangha members and guest, the play mesmerized the audiences for 4 hours. Around 25 artists taken part in this play, two of the artists were specially flown in from Karnataka to act and direct the play. Sri Dayananda Shettigar, Miyar and Sri Shekar Shettigar , who came from Dubai for this occasion.
This unique play was performed on a specially built stage with special effects of lighting and sound. The play was directed by the visiting artist Sri Dayanada Shettigar from Miyar.
The program started with a small stage function to honour the visiting artists, Sri Dayanada Shettigar and Sri Shekar Shettigar were honoured with Shawl and momentos. In recongnizing the contribution in yakshaghana the yearly award were given to Sangha Veteran Artists Sri Narayana panjathoti and Sri Doomanna Rai. They were honoured during the function.
The chief guest of the function was CCIA (co-ordination committee for Indian associations) Dr. P.V.Cherian applauded the efforts of the Kannada Sangha for keeping the traditions and culture of the state and India alive. The guest of honour was The General Manager of Ramee Group of Hotels Sri. Shantharam Shetty , commended the Sangha managing committee for nourishing the Yakhshagana tradition and showing our new generation the richness of our culture. And wished them best for the future programs.
President of the Sangha Mr. Rajkumar appreciated the initiative and efforts of the Sangha artists and members for their hard work and support to the committee to hold such good programs and hoped the same support will be extended by all members in the future also. There were other dignitaries also were on the stage Sri U.H Neelkanta of Delta Group, and Sangha Vice-President H.K.Pai.
General secretary Sri Ramesh Ramachandran gave the vote of thanks . This was one of the best plays enacted in the recent past.
This is really a most successful program.
