Gulf Medical University hosts first-ever ‘White Coat Fashion Show’ by healthcare heroes

Ajman, Jul 30, 2021: Gulf Medical University along with DCOM designs, Root Square, and the PaintBrush Art Community, Dubai organized the first-ever fashion show in the region by Healthcare Heroes. The event, called Walking Art, is a tribute by the artistic community of the United Arab Emirates towards our frontline heroes.

The program was attended by Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University- the Chief Guest of the Function, along with Dr. Bu Abdullah, Chairman of BU Abdullah group and Mr. Uttam Chand, Consul of Visa and community affairs, Consulate of India, who were the Guests of Honor.

The fashion show was started with an opening act by Gulf Medical University Alumni led by Dr. Ramita, and comprising of participants Dr.Afrah, Dr.Kajal and Dr.Sandra.

The next act was the Fashion Walk performed by Dr. Shanthi and Dr. Dhvanthi alongside the Nursing staff and support staff of Thumbay University Hospital. The doctors, staff members, Alumni and the students from GMU and Thumbay University Hospital and the Thumbay Group partook in the event, too.

The final performance was the first-ever ‘White Coat Fashion Show’ in the region. The white coats was painted in 27 different designs by the followings artists- Anjini Laitu, Lalita Sharma, Sonal Purhohit, Sughat priadarshi, Sana Moin Ahmed, Varsha Saju, Rishu Gosain Roy, Jyoti Singhala, Anil Kamble, Afsan Qureshi, Adelina Maria Prabita Rajesh, Mohd Wadood, Ahmed Al Awadi (rukni), Jasmine Rizwi, Anjini, Iti Sethi, Paani Sagar, Akshay Arora, Archana, Anjini, Sonal Madan, Nupu and Shobha Iyer from the PaintBrush Art Community, Dubai.

The Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, Prof. Hossam Hamdy said “We are proud to host this historic event, which is a tribute from the UAE, Gulf Medical University, and the Team to the Healthcare heroes of the world. Today, our superheroes don’t wear capes, they wear white coats.”

He added “These very talented, selected artists have hand-painted white coats that were showcased by upcoming future doctors, alumni of GMU and Thumbay University Hospital staff members. There were a total of 35 models today, all of whom were Doctors from Thumbay university Hospital and Gulf Medical University, staff alumni and students. They have made this event possible”.

The event was initiated by DCOM Designs and Root Square; associated with the PaintBrush Art Community, Dubai. The Students Affairs Department of GMU contributed in the coordination of the event.
