Mangalore, October 16: The Kuwait-based Tulu Koota organized a cultural programme called Rasamanjari 2010 on Oct 14 Thursday as part of their 2-day decennial celebration Tulu Parba 2010 at AIS Auditorium, Maidan Hawally.
The highlight of the event was a performance by famous playback singer Anuradha Bhat and her troupe of talented singers, who were flown in from Mangalore for the purpose. Ms Bhat’s team comprised famous singers such as Naveen Koppa, Prakash Mahadevan, Roopa, Sandesh, and Jyotsna.
Purander Manchi and Rekha Sachu delivered the welcome address. President Swarna C. Shetty escorted the office bearers to the stage to light the lamp. In her introductory speech, the president expressed her gratitude to all who had supported and encouraged her during the last decade. Prominent personalities such as MLA Nagaraj Shetty and B. R. Shetty, the prominent NRI entrepreneur and social activist, also participated in the event.
Talented local singers and visiting artists entertained the audience with a collection of Hindi, Kannada, Byari, Tulu, and Konkani songs. The audience greatly appreciated the performance of Adrian Gomes and his troupe from Mangalore. A variety of dance performances were presented by the members of the Tulu Koota and their children. Mr. Prakash Shetty and group enacted a number of jokes and made the audience rock with laughter.
The comperer was Navin Koppa. Joint Secretary Agnel Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Anand D’Souza provided the light and sound effects. The programme came to an end at half past ten with a baila session and the national anthem of India.
On Oct 15, Friday, Kudroli Ganesh will present a magic show from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The day will be packed with a comedy show by Manohar Prasad, a number of dance performance, jokes, and other programmes crowned by a Tulu comedy called “Panyeralaath Panande Budyeralaath” enacted by the members of Remix Kalavider Kudla under the guidance of Kusaldarase Navin D. Padil.
