Dammam, January 5: The Dammam-based Saudi Konkan Youngsters (SKY) organized a Christmas event called “Nathalancho Dabazo” on Dec 30, Thursday. Mr.Arun D’Souza, Mr. Patrick Almeida, and SKY President Mr. Ronald Fernandes marked the beginning of the event by lighting the traditional lamp.
A group of little kids led the gathering in prayer, and this was followed by a nativity skit and carol singing. Santa Claus mingled among the people, spreading joy and cheer among them.
President Ronald delivered the welcome address and expressed his thanks to all the sponsors for supporting SKY and its activities.
The entertainment programme commenced with a classical dance titled “Sonthosachi Raath” performed for Rosella Pinto. Children as well as adults presented a number of programmes, both as individuals and groups.
Later, traditional kuswar was distributed in attractive packages to everybody in the gathering.
Mr. Ivan Pinto was honored for emerging victorious in the recently held PETA Cup Tennis Championship; he is the first Indian to win this tournament. Mr. Manoj Fernandes was honored for representing Saudi Arabia in the Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) contest held in Dubai.
The highlights of the event included a raffle draw, prizes, auction of cakes, and much more. A delicious dinner marked the end of the event.
The comperer was Mr. Alwyn Fernandes and Mrs. Ivy Mathaias. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mark Tellis. After dinner, there was a baila dance session to keep people happy and entertained.
