Dubai, 22 November 2011: International throwball stars from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will arrive in Dubai to take part in the 4th Asian Throwball Tournament taking place on 25th Nov. (Friday) at the Indoor courts of the Jumeira Baccalaureate School. The courts are located behind Dubai Zoo in Jumeira 1 area off Al Wasl Road.
In a press statement, Girish Shetty, President of the UAE Chapter of the Asian Throwball Federation said that Dubai will witness some of the finest throwball players from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. The matches will start at 7 a m and the finals are expected to be around 5 p m. Shetty said that each and every match is expected to be very interesting.
UAE women will take part in the tournament with two solid teams that have been selected after watching some of the best throwball players and selecting them after a trial held recently.
The women’s team will be coached by UAE’s veteran Throwball player and organiser Marina Menezes. Marina is a well known player and has watched all those players who have been selected to play for the UAE women.
Likewise, the men’s team will be under the coaching of Elias D’Souza. Elias said the local men’s team will be a strong one with plenty of youngsters in the side. The visiting teams are expected to find the local opposition strong.
There will be plenty of officials of the Asian Throwball Federation also arriving from the sub continent and the technical aspect will be looked after by these officials. Secretary of the Asian Throwball Federation said that all teams are excited to play in Dubai and are looking forward to the visit. This is the first time that Dubai is hosting the prestigious Asian Throwball Tournament.
An enjoyable Friday is assured for all those Throwball lovers who are expected to witness the day long matches at the beautiful indoor courts of the Jumeira Baccalaureate School in Jumeira 1.
