Kuwait, April 25, 2015: The “Buntaayana 2015” organised by the Buntara Sangha Kuwait (BKS) at the Cambridge School Auditorium at Mangaf on April 24, Friday mesmerized Yakshagana lovers. The stage settings for the event was so splendid and reflected a typical Yakshagana stage in Dakshina Kannada district taking the audience to a whole new world.
The main attraction of the event was “Shri Devi Mahatme” Yakshagana by the Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mela of Mangaluru. A variety of dance and music programmes were also part of the Buntaayana.
Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, President of Buntara alias Nadavara Mathru Sangha, Mangaluru, Dr Asha Jyothi Rai, Satish Kumar Patla, noted Yakshagana Bhagavatha and Kadri Navaneeth Shetty were the chief guests. All the dignitaries on the dais lighted the traditional lamp to mark the inaugural of the event.The guests were felicitated by President of the Sangha Rajesh Shetty Agari and Roopa Rajesh Shetty.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Sunil Jain, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait and his wife Dr Gargi Jain, former presidents of Buntara Sangha Kuwait namely Jayakar Shetty, Venkappa Shetty Soorinje, Satish Chandra Shetty, Umesh Shetty Adve and Guruprasad Hegde.
The Yakshagana show commenced with Bhagavatha Satish Shetty Patla rendering a poem penned by Nadoja Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, the centenarian poet and Kannada activist. The Bhagavathike by Satish Shetty Patla was much appreciated by the audience. The Yakshagana show was presented by several eminent artistes of Kateel Mela including Deepak Rao, Chaitanya Krishna, Chandrashekhar Dharmasthala, Narayana Poojary Ujire and others.
