“The BJP must tell whether those who killed Junaid and Naseer will also be killed in an encounter? No, you will not because you encounter in the name of religion,” Owaisi said.

The charred bodies of Junaid and Naseer were found inside a vehicle in Haryana’s Bhiwani district on February 16. Residents of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, the men were abducted and allegedly murdered by members of the Bajrang Dal.

“This is tearing apart the law. You want to encounter the Constitution. You are trying to weaken the rule of law. Then why have courts, judges, CrPC, IPC? Why have public prosecutors? If you decide to provide justice through bullets (encounter), shut down the courts,” he said.

Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, who is wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter on Thursday by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi. The police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information on Asad. Another accused in the case, Ghulam, also with a Rs 5 lakh bounty on his head, was killed in an encounter led by Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal.
