Bengaluru, Feb 15, 2024: Karnataka BJP MLA Arvind Bellad criticised Infosys and said that the top IT company has not provided even a single job despite taking 58 acres of land in his home constituency of Hubli-Dharwad West. He even demanded to take back the land.
Addressing the state Assembly, Bellad, who is also Deputy Leader of the Opposition, said, "In my constituency, there’s an industrial estate. Infosys has taken 58 acres of land and has not given a single job. Take that land back from them."
The MLA said that he got Infosys the land from farmers for Rs 35 lakhs for what was supposed to Rs 1 crore.
"I assured the farmers that their children would get employment. Today I’m not able to look them in the eye," he added.
Bellad’s comment came amid the Budget Session of the Karnataka Assembly.
