’3 Idiots’ Sweeps Technical IIFA Awards

Colombo, May 11: After scoring big on the box-office and winning rave-reviews, Aamir Khan starrer ’3 Idiots’ has now taken home the major trophies in the technical category of the IIFA awards.

 

 

The film by Rajkumar Hirani won in 8 out of the 14 categories of the technical awards announced here, beating off competition from other contenders like ’Paa’ and ’Love Aaj Kal’.

’3 Idiots’ managed to uphold its position with Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra taking the award for the ’Best Screenplay’.
C.K. Muraleedharan ISC won the ’Best Cinematography’ award followed by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi for ’Best Dialogue’.

Sanjay Wandrekar, Atul Raninga and Shantanu Moitra won the award for ’Best Background Score’ and Rajkumar Hirani won the trophy for ’Best Editing’.

To add to the feathers in its cap, the movie also won all three of the awards in the Sound category.

Meanwhile Sujoy Ghosh’s, ’Aladin’ and the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, ’Love Aaj Kal’ took home two awards each.

The popular dance moves from ’Love Aaj Kal’ won Bosco Caesar the ’Best Choreography’ award, while the ’Best Costume Designing’ trophy went to Anahita Shroff and Dolly Ahluwalia, for the same movie.

Sabu Cyril got the ’Best Art Direction’ and Charles Darby won ’Best Special Effects’ for ’Aladin’.

Sham Kaushal was favoured with the ’Best Action Award’ for ’Kaminey’ and undoubtedly deserving was the ’Best Makeup’ award to international make-up artists, Christien Tinsley & Dominie Till for ’Paa’.

The awards will be presented to the winners at the 11th IIFA Awards that will be held on June 5th in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this year.
