Rajasthan, December 24, 2024: Police in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara have arrested a young man, only a 12th-grade pass, on charges of online fraud. Officials at Bhimganj police station stated that the accused deceived thousands of people nationwide with a scheme that promised earnings of Rs 750, allegedly making him a millionaire within 18 months after the pandemic began.

Police were astonished to discover transactions exceeding Rs 1 crore in the bank account of the young accused while investigating his financial dealings. Complaints against the youth had been filed in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttarakhand.


Online fraud


During their investigation, police recovered 29 debit and credit cards, nine scanners, 11 cheque books and passbooks, three pen drives, one card reader, five SIM cards, three seals, and various other documents.

Probationary IPS officer Jatin Jain stated that under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh, a campaign named Operation Anti Viral was initiated in the Bhilwara district to curb cyber fraud. A team was assembled, which apprehended the suspect, identified as Wahid Hussain, a resident of Anmol Nagar.

Police said that Wahid was trained in 2022 by cybercriminal Bunty Baba, alongside several others. Subsequently, Wahid created a fake social media account and began advertising fake websites. He offered individuals the opportunity to earn Rs 1200-1500 for an initial payment of Rs 750 by working from home.
