17 Cops Convicted for Fake Encounter of MBA graduate in Dehradun in 2009

New Delhi, June 06, 2014:  A CBI court in Delhi today convicted 17 policemen from Uttarakhand for the fake encounter of an MBA graduate in Dehradun in 2009.

The student, 22-year-old Ranbir, was gunned down in July 2009 by a police team that alleged that he was part of an extortion racket.

A total of 18 policemen were accused in the case. 17 of them were found guilty of murder today. One was convicted for destruction of evidence.
