Bengaluru, Dec 16, 2022: A 19-year-old engineering student allegedly died by suicide in his college hostel in Bengaluru. The deceased, identified as Nitin from Kerala’s Kozhikode, slit his throat inside the toilet of the college’s hostel.
The incident, which took place at AMC Engineering College in Bengaluru, was discovered on Thursday. According to the Bannerghatta police, Nitin, who is a resident of a village in Kerala’s Kozhikode, had joined the college merely 15 days ago, on December 1.
According to preliminary investigations, both his parents are working in Dubai. On December 14, around 9.30 am when his roommates were going to college, Nitin refused to join them and told them that he had a headache.
When his roommates returned to the hostel room after classes, Nitin didn’t open the doors. With the help of the hostel warden and staff, they broke the doors. That’s when they discovered Nitin’s body lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit inside the toilet.
Police have registered the case and are conducting further investigation. According to police sources, it is suspected to be a case of suicide.
Officials have also recorded statements from his roommates and college classmates. The deceased’s classmates informed the police that the boy used to call his parents and frequently argued with them stating they should meet him.
