Baramulla, Sep 15, 2023: Two terrorist associates of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were arrested in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Pistols, grenades and other incriminating material were recovered from their possession.
At a joint checkpoint established at Paranpeelan Bridge, Uri, Baramulla Police and Army’s 8 RR, noticed two men coming from Dachi. The duo tried to flee when they saw the checkpoint but were arrested by the forces.
Suspicious, a search was conducted and two glock pistols, two pistol magazines, two pistol silencers, five Chinese grenades, 28 live pistol rounds and other war-like stores were recovered from their possession.
They were taken into custody and later identified as Zaid Hassan Malla and Mohd Arif Channa, both residents of Baramulla.
The duo were involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities.
A case under the Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act was registered and an investigation was taken up.
