Bengal, Aiug 23, 2019 : At least four people were killed and several others were injured in a stampede during Janmashtami celebrations at a temple in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Friday, News18 reported.
The incident happened when a boundary wall collapsed, creating panic among pilgrims, who had gathered in massive numbers on the occasion of Janmashtami.
The injured were moved to the Calcutta National Medical College in Kolkata and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for the kin of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh for those who were critically injured and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries.
