Ibrish Khan died during the violence that erupted when a procession was being taken out to celebrate Ram Navami in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone city earlier this month -- on April 10. He was reported missing by his family on April 14.

Ibrish Khan is the only fatality reported so far in the Khragone violence.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, "Police recovered a body on April 10, which was sent to Indore for post-mortem. On April 11, the post mortem was done and on the basis of it, a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was registered."

"The body was not identified till then. But when, on April 14, a person named Saddam [also known as Ibrish Khan] was reported missing, the body was identified by his family in Indore," Narottam Mishra said.

"The body was then handed over to the relatives, after which the funeral was performed. An investigation is going on in the matter," Narottam Mishra said.

Over 20 people were injured in the clashes in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. So far, 44 cases have been registered in connection with the violence and 148 people have been taken into custody, police were quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
