5 terrorists killed in encounter in J&K’s Shopian

Srinagar, Aug 04, 2018 : The security forces have gunned down five terrorists in an encounter in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter had started last night.

 

"Four more terrorists have been killed in the operation at Kiloora village in Shopian. One terrorist was killed last night," an Army official told news agency PTI.

The police have learnt that these terrorists belonged to the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The terrorist killed last night has been identified as Umar Malik. According to ANI, an AK-47 was also found with him.

The security forces had cordoned off the area last night following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there and had started a search operation there.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the security forces, an official had said.
