9 people killed after auto-rickshaw collides with speeding truck in Assam

Karimganj, Nov 11, 2021: At least nine people, including three minors, died in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a speeding truck in Assam’s Karimganj district.

The incident took place in the wee hours of Thursday on National Highway 8 at the Baithakhal area under Patharkandi police station in Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border.

According to the reports, the deceased people were returning after performing Chhath Puja rituals.

A police officer of Karimganj district said the accident occurred after a head-on-collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw.

“The incident took place on National Highway 8 in the Baithakhal area. We have received information that at least nine people were killed in the incident. One body has reached the Karimganj civil hospital,” the police official said.
