Accused of rape, former Karnataka minister attempts suicide

Mysore, February 12, 2014: A 35-year-old woman has accused SA Ramdas, the former Karnataka Medical Education Minister of raping her.

 

She claims that she is from Chikmagalur and her husband was a government officer. After her husband died, she had approached Ramdas for help getting a job and sought a transfer to Mysore. However, she alleges he raped her on the pretext of helping her.

On hearing about the allegation, Ramdas attempted suicide on Tuesday evening by hanging himself at a guest house in Mysore where he was staying.

He is now admitted in Apollo Hospital, Mysore. No complaint has been filed with the police as yet.
