New Delhi, Dec 20, 2023: Jacqueline Fernandez on Wednesday moved a Delhi court, seeking protection from intimidation from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. In her plea, the Bollywood actor said on July 18, while she was participating in the court proceedings through Webex, she received unsolicited messages and a voice note from Sukesh, who was also participating in the proceedings through the same platform.

The actor alleged the messages were ’completely unwarranted and highly inappropriate’ and hence she refrained from responding to them.

Jacqueline also alleged conman Sukesh’s barrage of letters and messages posed a substantial threat to her safety and that the conman had intentionally been writing these letters to the electronic and print media.

The actor said she lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), underscoring the alarming attempts by Sukesh Chandrashekhar to establish illicit contact with her. But no action has been taken to date by the Delhi Police.

Meanwhile, in its response, the EOW stated, "It has been observed that the accused Sukesh Chandrashekhar has been in the habit of sending letters, concerning Jacqueline to media platforms, through various means, which is not only harassing/threatening her directly, but also affecting her social/professional assignments."

"Such aggravating nature of the threat/harassment to the victim/applicant is a matter of grave concern for the investigating agency that an important witness of the case is being coerced/harassed/ threatened by the accused. It will have serious implications on the conduct of the trial of the case, concerning Jacqueline," it stated.

Following the actor’s petition, the court issued directions to jail authorities to file a detailed report about the action taken against Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

The next hearing in the case will be taken up on January 17.

The development comes days after the Bollywood actor approached the Delhi High Court seeking to quash the FIR against her in the Enforcement Directorate’s Rs 200 crore money laundering case involving Chandrashekhar.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar persistently engages in the unsolicited dissemination of troubling letters to numerous electronic and print media platforms. These letters, once published by the media outlets, create an alarming and distressing environment for her.
